The ASP Service Structure

Business Meeting

·       Business Meeting Open to all members of ASP

·       The Group Conscience of ASP on issues not specifically delegated to the Steering Committee

·       Establish general meeting policies by substantial unanimity of subscribed membership of Business Committee

·       Changes to ASP policies require 2/3 majority of subscribed membership of Business Committee

·       Secretary may impose 2/3 majority requirement on any significant or controversial issue

·       Meets via a mailing list separate from the ASP recovery meeting mailing list

·       Elects the members of Business Meeting to the Steering Committee

 

Trusted Servants of the Business Meeting

 

Secretary

·       Chairs the Business Meeting

·       Records Group Consciences of the Business Meeting

Treasurer

·       Administers the 7th Tradition at ASP by Passing the Basket monthly

·       Accepts donations from ASP members

·       Deposits funds received in a bank account

·       Disburses funds as necessary to pay ASP financial obligations

·       Reports monthly to Steering Committee and Business Committee  

 

Steering Committee

 

Responsibilities

·       Contract with necessary service providers

o   Domain name registration

o   Mailing List hosting

o   Web Site hosting

·       Administer all technical affairs of ASP 

o   Implementation of ASP policy & practices

o   May make autonomous decisions when needed

o   Report to Business Meeting monthly

o   Suggested changes to policy & practices

o   Generalized report of actions taken

·       Members elected by the Business Meeting   [3-year term]

 

Officers of the Steering Committee

 

·       List Administrator

o   The primary leadership position of ASP

o   Chairs the Steering Committee

o   Primary spokesperson for the Steering Committee

o   Deals directly with members of ASP regarding ASP policy & practices

o   Makes autonomous decisions regarding ASP affairs, when necessary

o   Keep others on Steering Committee thoroughly informed of all communication involving or representing the Steering Committee

o   Responsible for technical administration of the ASP mailing list Meeting Contact

o   Primary contact person with WSO

o   Online meetings are not "Groups" and therefore do not have GRs

o   Serves for three years

 

·       Secretary

o   Chairs the Business Meeting

o   Responsible for the Daily Chairpersons in the ASP meeting

§  Appoints Daily Chairpersons to 6-month position

§  Instructs/trains and oversees Daily Chairpersons

o   Maintains ASP web sites

o   Appoints & oversees Recording Secretary

§  Assists Secretary as requested

§  Assists with website maintenance and updates

o   Instructs/trains Recording Secretary

o   Alternate List Administrator #1

   

·       Greeter Chairperson

o   Chairs the Greeter Committee

o   Appoints Greeters

o   Instructs/trains and oversees Greeters

o   Oversees greeting process

o   Alternate List Administrator #2

 

·       Treasurer

o   Administers the 7th Tradition at ASP by Passing the Basket monthly

o   Accepts donations from ASP members

o   Deposits funds received in ASP bank account

o   Disburses funds as necessary to pay ASP financial obligations

o   Reports monthly to Steering Committee and Business Committee

 

·         Group Representative

o   The general duties and responsibilities of the Group Representative are described in the current version of the Al-Anon Service Manual.

o   Represents ASP in Virtual Area or other service arm as established by the Al-Anon World Service Conference and/or World Service Office.

o   Attends meetings of the Virtual Area, World Service Office and/or other service arms.

o   Reports to members of ASP regularly via the Business Meeting, and if desirable or appropriate to the general membership of ASP via an announcement in the recovery meeting.

o   Is eligible to serve in position(s) beyond Group Representative as established by the Al-Anon World Service Conference and/or World Service Office.Holds a seat on the ASP Steering Committee with voice and vote.

o   Reports regularly to the Steering Committee on issues of interest to ASP.

o   Coordinates with Secretary to maintain ASP webpage with information.

o   May incur reasonable expenses similar to face-to-face Group Representatives, which shall become the responsibility of ASP.  The Steering Committee shall develop adequate policies regarding the budgeting, reporting and reimbursement of Group Representative expenses.   

 

·       Founders of ASP

o   Founder or most senior member of ASP

o   Second most senior member of ASP

o   Responsibilities & Authorities

§  Voice and vote in all Steering Committee and Business Meeting matters

§  Backup/alternate for any service or service position as requested by List Administrator, Steering Committee or Business Meeting.

§  Other assignments, duties and authorities as requested by Steering Committee and/or Business Meeting
