Thank you for inquiring about A Serenity Place, an online Al-Anon meeting. Online Al-Anon has special benefits such as
being available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It also has special challenges, and we at A Serenity Place are in the ongoing
process of meeting those.
A Serenity Place is a closed Al-Anon meeting. In Al-Anon, as in Alcoholics Anonymous, this is a common designation that
embraces those who meet our only requirement for membership as stated by our Third Tradition. Unlike open meetings,
which anyone can attend, a closed meeting is not open to drop-ins, students, therapists, professionals, observers or
members of other 12-step groups who do not meet this requirement.
The Third Tradition as it relates to Al-Anon membership states:
"The only requirement for membership is that there be a problem of alcoholism in a relative or friend." A Serenity Place
asks you to tell us in a general way how you meet the requirements of the Third Tradition. The guiding principle of Al-Anon
is anonymity, so no one here will ask for detailed information like the names, dates, places and experiences.
